Where is the TPM Killer App, or even Just a Flesh Wound App?

Running in parallel with the Interop Las Vegas conference reported on earlier was the CSI SX (Computer Security Institute Security eXchange). I found an interesting post on the Go CSI Blog entitled “CSI SX: Land of Question Marks and Light Bulbs”, written by Sara Peters.
Along with a lot of other interesting security-related talking points she had this to say:
Why is it that even though TPM [Trusted Platform Module] chips are in everything, no one’s really embracing trusted computing?
That is the $64,000 question for the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). However, with recent Interop buzz on IF-MAP, perhaps we have an answer?
A further question of hers also ties in with the above question:
With the right identity management (or perhaps “claims” management or “credential” management), would many of our other security tools be rendered unnecessary?
I’ll fire three questions right back at her:
Does TPM contain the right identity (or claim or credential) management functions to render many of the other security tools unnecessary? If not, why not? And if not, can we make it right?
