According to this press release, Wave Systems will be demonstrating in conjunction with Dell and Lenovo at the Intel Developers Forum the use of Wave’s EMBASSY administration suite to remotely control self-encrypting drives on vPro-equipped hardware.
Some of the things the EMBASSY Remote Administration Server can do are: network unlock of drives; tie particular PCs to particular network segments or physical locations, so their hard disks can only be accessed where they are supposed to be accessed; remote invisible user credential recover; operating system independent operation; power down unused machines; and support all Trusted Computing Group Opal-compliant self encrypting drives.
It all sounds a very cost-effective way to manage a network, saving lots of in-person visits by the support staff.
