VeriSign to endorse Infineon’s TPM

In an interesting development reported on by EE Times, Infineon Technologies AG are to get their Trusted Platform Module Certificate Authority certified by VeriSign. This will give them a Root Certificate which will enable Infineon’s TPMs to issue secure digital certificates.

In related news, on the Trusted Computing Group web site, it notes that Infineon’s TPM SLB9635TT1.2 is the first TPM chip to be certified by the TCG. This means:

TCG members are required to demonstrate successful Common Criteria certification of their TPM 1.2 product, at EAL4+ Moderate, according to the PC Client TPM 1.2 Protection Profile developed by the TCG.

Congratulations to Infineon for both achievements!

The EE Times article is from 11/02/2005, 4 years ago. Infineon has had their Verisign cert posted on their website http://www.infineon.com/tpm for years.

Ack, so it is! I was thinking that it felt like rather old news (Google Alerts have a habit of doing that!) and in my keenness to mention Infineon’s TPM passing the compliance tests I overlooked the date on the EE News article.
