Trusted Computing in China

In an undated article, but one that appeared in my feed reader dated 27th December 2008, EMC’s ON Magazine looks at trusted computing in China, with an article written by Professor Huanguo Zhang of Wuhan University. They have made many advances in development, such as this:
Through the collaboration with Chinese enterprise, we have developed the first trusted computer and trusted platform module in China. Supported by China’s national high-tech development 863 Program, we have also developed the first trusted PDA and software system for testing and evaluating of trusted computing in China. Based on this R&D, we are participating in the establishment of trusted computing technology standards in China.
However, I cannot shake the doubt that I have that any solution will have a backdoor that will allow the government access to any encrypted data.
