Trusted Computing Group at RSA Conference 2008 San Francisco

As mentioned in this blog last week, the RSA Conference 2008 at San Francisco has a Trusted Computing Group (TCG) day. The TCG official blog reported on the experience.
It wasn’t just the TCG day, but the whole RSA Conference event was packed! TCG has their room split into four areas; one on Trusted Network Connect (TNC) NAC, one on storage security, and two on the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) itself and how to use it.
TNC demonstrated network access control, both keeping hackers at bay and making sure that the good guys haven’t had their computers compromised. Storage discussed about laptop loss and theft and how to mitigate the risks and costs of such an event. Additionally, they covered enterprise server-based encryption, combined with TNC for secured communication.
The demostrating companies included Juniper Networks, Seagate, Wave and Infineon. Fujitsu also demonstrated TNC with biometrics for user authentication, and Identity Engines had an Open Source-based NAC addon for network protection.
I wish I’d been able to go, as it seems to have covered a whole lot of ground!
Copies of the presentations, etc, of the TCG at the RSA Conference 2008 may be downloaded from here and the full article from Brian Berger may be found here.
