TCG’s full-disk encryption standard announced

Fudzilla’s Nick Farrell reported on the impending release of the full-disk encryption standard from the Trusted Computing Group. One issue I have with the article is:
When a USB drive is unplugged, or when a laptop is powered down, or when an administrator pulls a drive from a server, it can’t be brought back up and read without first giving a cryptographically-strong password.
Although the password stored within the TPM on the disk controller is cryptographically strong, the user password, the weakest link in the chain, may, depending on the software supplied, be exceptionally weak, although this is a factor outwith the TCG’s control.
