Straw poll shows favour for Microsoft’s NAC

Based on an informal show of hands at the recent Interop Las Vegas show, many favoured Microsoft’s Network Access Control (NAC) solution, called Network Access Protection (NAP), mostly because they were already Microsoft Vista users and unwilling to pay money for a third-party solution.

At a panel session on NAC, many people complained that non-Microsoft machine support was a major issue, but that is where the Trusted Computing Group’s (TCG) new IF-MAP (Interface for Metadata AccessPoint) protocol comes in, allowing central management but distributed handling of network irregularities.
