Spansion on why integrity-protected memory is better than MTM

EE Times Asia recently published an article (almost a white paper) written by Venkat Natarajan from Spansion on their new technology, integrity-protected memory, is better than the Trusted Computing Group’s (TCG) Mobile Phone Working Group’s (MPWG) Mobile Trusted Module (MTM) specification.
Although the model they present of their solution seems to be suggested as a replacement for an MTM-based solution, to reject the MTM is to reject a rigorously-designed and secure set of APIs, and since the TCG makes all its specifications freely-available, it would seem to me that combining Spansion’s hardware with an MTM implementation could be a very interesting solution. However, Spansion seem to have developed their own competing API which does (or may in the future) contain higher-level functionality. On the other hand, TCG has the Trusted Software Stack (TSS).
Anyway, it’s an interesting read to get another viewpoint on mobile phone security. Find the full story here.
