Scepticism on End to End Trust

My favourite author on security matters, Bruce Schneier, expressed suspicion after Microsoft’s presentation of their vision of End to End Trust at last month’s RSA Conference in San Francisco. His view, as expressed in the article was:

“It feels general and like marketing hype. Basically, Microsoft has used its trusted computing efforts, such as inserting identity rights management into Office 2003, to lock people into using its products.”

Of course, Microsoft rebutted the claims, although they admitted that conspiracy theories almost always dog every announcement they make.
