Review of Wave’s Embassy Remote Administration Server

Government Computer News recently took a look at Wave System’s Embassy Remote Administration Server (ERAS). which allows remote administration of systems with Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) installed. It highlights that the US Defense Department, along with other agencies, now require all new PCs to be equipped with one.
ERAS requires a machine running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Internet Information Service (IIS) 6.0, and SQL Server 2005. One strong feature is that the suite allows the remote administrator to take ownership of any clients, an important feature to help adoption of the TPM in the corporate sphere. Other key features include remote secure erasure of disks and an easy-to-use web-based console for help-desk operations.
For up to 50 users the price is $93 per user (that’s what the article says, but does that actually mean per TPM, or per device, or actual users?), with discounts for larger sites.
Given the benefits of TPM, $93 per head is very little for the security benefits. Read the full review here.
