Nicholas Sarkozy needs a TPM too

Following up on Sarah Palin‘s need for a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Rob Enderle describes on the Trusted Computing Group official blog why France’s President Sarkozy needs a TPM after he had his bank account hacked.
The article seems more about the current bleak economic outlook and how it will encourage more people to look at laptop theft as an easy moneymaker, with both the physical value of the device and the value of any data contained within as financial incentives to pilfer.
The solution is to turn on your TPM to encrypt your hard drive, or use other solutions, including regular secure backups. It’s all sound advice, of course, although the actual TPM angle is rather obtuse.
