NetworkWorld’s overview of IF-MAP

Recently, NetworkWorld published an overview of the latest development from the TCG’s (Trusted Computing Group) TNC’s (Trusted Network Connect Workgroup) new IF-MAP (Interface for Metadata Access Point) protocol for integrated endpoint security across the network.
NetworkWorld’s summary of what IF-MAP can do for you is as follows:
With IF-MAP, various devices can be integrated into the network infrastructure, enabling real-time monitoring of the security status of an endpoint by a network operator. By doing so, the management of security risk can move from point security to a holistic approach, as well as from passive protection to active protection.
Vendors like Infoblox and Juniper are working hard to bring you systems supporting this new protocol. At Interop Las Vegas 2008 they and other TCG member companies demonstrated their wares working together on this new standard; the commercial release should be within 6 to 12 months.
