NAC standards

Network Access Control standards are yet to solidify, as they are still being worked on by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), making slow but hopefully steady progress.

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) has previous issued standards (Trusted Network Connect or TNC) that their members have agreed to follow, but the number of deployments based on these are few and far between.

Steve Hanna from Juniper, a key member of both the IETF and TCG committees says that although the various parties involved are converging towards a single specification, he is realistic about timescales involved to reach a published standard, measured in years rather than months.
