Rob Enderle recently posted to DarkReading about integrating physical and virtual security in the enterprise. He talks about the integration of physical security such as employee cards that get read on entrance and exit with the virtual security, so people who are not in the office cannot have other people use their accounts from inside the building.
He mentions that Hirsch Electronics have such a system (I’ve seen a demo myself) that ties together physical ID badges to the Trusted Computing Group’s Trusted Network Connect specification so that even if you leave your PC logged in when you go home at night, once you leave the building the connection is severed.
