Adding NAC to Wi-Fi

Posted by Ken Y-N on August 25th, 2009 at 09:20am

SC Magazine recently published a piece from Jon Green of Aruba Networks on how Wi-Fi and NAC (Network Access Control) fit together. His opinion is that the two together make a whole lot of sense for maintaining security in the enterprise, especially as Wi-Fi is becoming more cost-effective than traditional wired solutions in the office.

Once the obvious step of authenticating the Wi-Fi clients is done, the next step is device posture or health checking, which is where the Trusted Computing Group’s Trusted Network Connect specification comes into play, allowing NAC components to talk to each other.

His conclusion is that NAC is actually more secure and easier to implement on wireless rather than wired connections.
