CNN recently reported on a report from the Aberdeen Group on Trusted Computing, specifically how companies deploying applicatons that use TPM chips show better grasp of compliance, security governance, and risk management. They say:
In contrast [to traditional security solutions], trusted computing solutions are based on a “high assurance” model, where the general approach is that once “healthy” behavior has been defined, all variants are deemed “unhealthy” and are not allowed.
Derek E Brink, vice president and research director for IT Security in the Aberdeen Group highlights that there are already a high percentage of trusted computing-ready machines and infrastructure in many large organisation, but awareness of the benefits of using them is still quite low.
The article also presents a link to a free copy of the report, partially underwritten by Wave Systems and the Trusted Computing Group.
